But beyond the surface-level appeal, how well does it actually perform in cooling modern CPUs? The answer is: it’s serviceable—but doesn't quite match its flashy exterior with top-tier performance.

Design and Aesthetics: RGB Done Right

The Poseidon Ultra 360 is arguably one of the best-looking AIO coolers in its price range. Featuring a glossy pump cap with vibrant RGB illumination, and three semi-transparent ARGB fans, this cooler makes a strong aesthetic statement in any build with a clear side panel.

One nice touch is the rotatable top cap, which lets users orient the Cougar logo however they like, ensuring consistent branding regardless of radiator placement. The included fans are designed not only for airflow but also for visual impact, with their convex, ridged blades diffusing light evenly.

Installation and Compatibility: Simple, But Missing a Few Luxuries

Installation is mostly straightforward, supporting all major sockets including Intel LGA 1700, 1200, 115X, and AMD AM5, AM4. The mounting hardware is well-labeled and easy to use. The 90-degree swiveling fittings at the pump head make tube routing a bit easier, particularly in tighter cases.

Cooling performance is acceptable but uninspiring. The Cougar Poseidon Ultra 360 ARGB is a cooler that delivers on looks and offers decent performance, but falls just short of being a true all-rounder. Its cooling capability is fine for most users, especially gamers and content creators who aren’t pushing their CPUs to the absolute limit. But overclockers or performance purists might be better served by a cooler with a bit more thermal headroom.

Its biggest strengths lie in its design, build quality, and acoustics, while its weaknesses include mediocre thermal performance and the lack of an included ARGB controller.
